Are you on track? Whether you want to keep an eye on the trends in investment recovery or need some basic education in this fascinating business, there are tracks for you to follow. The 25 seminars and roundtable discussions almost double the number of topics generally covered. These tracks represent areas of high interest to investment recovery professionals, plus you can can mix-and-match sessions from the four tracks to gain the most value from the seminars.
TRACK 1: Green Issues
In an otherwise disposable world, investment recovery professionals stand out as bright examples of responsible and profitable stewards of resources, and should be considered among the leaders within their organizations in this regard. By strategic use of recycling, redeployment, reselling and other disposition techniques, IR practitioners recover hundreds of millions of dollars of value in the surplus assets of their organizations each year. The ‘Green Issues’ track has four excellent sessions over three days exploring environmental issues, corporate social responsibility and sustainability, ending with a “Recycling” panel discussion on Wednesday.
TRACK 2: Investment Recovery Leadership
Begin Monday with a stirring session on “Overcoming Obstacles to Reach Your Goals” then follow with the latest Investment Recovery Association Benchmark Report from CAPS Research. Tuesday and Wednesday sessions in the ‘IR Leadership’ track include “Sustainability,” “Managing Expectations,” “Like-Kind Exchanges” and using the Association website as a marketing and productivity tool for your organization.
TRACK 3: Sales Tools for IR Professionals
Without a proper knowledge of value, you have almost no basis for the rest of the decisions that will follow in the disposition process. A critically important seminar and a workshop on “Valuation” begin the Sales Tools track, led by CMIR Fellow, Dennis Knutz. Also included are international experts with two sessions on “Selling to the Caribbean/Dominican Republic” and “Doing Business in Colombia”, one of South America’s top five economies. “Using Like-Kind Exchanges”, “Seven Myths of Used Equipment” and “Managing Your List” complete the courses offered in the Sales Tools track.
TRACK 4: IR Core Courses: Certified Manager of Investment Recovery (CMIR)
If you have recently “acquired” the responsibility for handling investment recovery for your organization, Wednesday is THE day to become immersed in the nitty-gritty of this fascinating and often complex profession. For those relatively new in the business, to those wanting to ‘fill in the cracks’ of their IR knowledge or working towards their CMIR certification, the six sessions offered in this track are virtually a college-level education in a critical part of the supply chain. Core courses include “Investment Recovery Principles”, “Investment Recovery Techniques”, “Marketing”, “Recycling and Environmental Issues”, “Demolition” and “Disposition Options"
