Association Schedules First “IR Lunch & Learn” for Houston, June 23rd.

The Houston Marriott Westchase will set the table on Wednesday, June 23rd for an appetizing couple hours of investment recovery learning. The free knowledge-sharing event, scheduled for 11:30-1:30 includes a box lunch, door prize drawing and speakers on improving surplus asset management practices.

If the event is well-attended and deemed a success in increasing the awareness of IR and the value of membership in the Investment Recovery Association, we hope to schedule similar “IR Lunch & Learns” in other cities.

“But wait…there’s more!” An Apple iTouch will be given away at the conclusion of the event. (Must be present to win.) Plus, any member who sponsors an attendee who later joins the association will receive $50. If you do business with companies in the Houston area or have a local office there, please share this information to help launch our first-ever Lunch & Learn.

Discussion Topics to Avoid Violation of antitrust law is a felony. Criminal sanction for antitrust violations have increased substantially in the past decade. A corporate violator may be fined as much as $10,000,000. Individuals may be punished by fines up to $350,000 and by jail sentences of up to three years. Trade association such as the Investment Recovery Association–which by their very nature involve interaction among competitors and/or suppliers and customers–are subject to close scrutiny for antitrust violations. Therefore, members must be very careful to keep their activities within the prescribed bounds, both in appearance and in actual fact.
